Good posture prevents back pain

Back pain can have various origins, a sudden movement, a fall, excessive physical activity, a bad move, long stay in the same position, or poor posture, even when asleep, because a wrong choice mattress can lead to poor sleeping position and cause muscle strain and therefore misalignment of the spine.

Back pain is a common problem here in the UK, with many people failing to take action to combat the symptoms.

However, Adam Dallison, registered osteopath and inventor of PosturePlast, revealed that there are all sorts of treatments available and many of them are easily accessible.

He explained: “Most people’s first port of call is the GP, who generally will give gentle movement and pain killers. If the pain persists a GP can refer the patient for NHS physiotherapy.”

If you’d rather receive treatment in the private sector, then Mr Dallison says that physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractors are all available.

All of these are regulated therapies, although only osteopaths and chiropractors are generally able to carry out spinal manipulation.
